Pakistan to host Champions Trophy in 2025

The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced on Tuesday that Pakistan will host the Men’s Champions Trophy in 2025.
It will be Pakistan’s first major international cricket competition since hosting the Men’s Cricket World Cup with India and Sri Lanka in 1996. The final was held at Lahore, and Sri Lanka was crowned champion.
Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Ramiz Raja reacted positively to the news, saying it was a source of great pride and happiness that the country would host the big ICC competition.
In 2009, the ICC Champions Trophy was again slated to be held in Pakistan, but because to security concerns, it was shifted to England.
After three countries β Australia, England, and New Zealand β refused to tour Pakistan due to security concerns months after an attack on the Sri Lankan team in Lahore, the tournament was shifted out of Pakistan.
